At the Omega Writers seminar in Toowoomba this year, Sandra Lacey (now?) and I looked at each other, and in hushed tones, both said, 'I thought that was personification.' LOL. I've had nightmares about it since then ... just kidding. But I'll definitely have to check out the differences between the two, otherwise sleep will be elusive this evening. :) How I wish I had Kate Morton's turn of phrase ... sigh.
LOL Melinda - I steered away from the debate because of that reason. When you read different definitions and websites, they sometimes make slightly different distinctions. When you sort it out, let me know :) I guess I went with the term anthropomorphisms because that's what the APA Manual called it, so that's where I directed the students.
